Plans to allow transgender people to self-identify will be formally scrapped this week, while in the cost of changing your gender, will be reduced, says The Sunday Times. The latest claim from the paper comes in a series of leaks and delays, so far all but confirming, Boris Johnson has scrapped major trans right reforms.

Reforms would have changed the way adults can legally change their gender in the U.K., currently governed by the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004. A formal response to a consultation about reforming the Gender Recognition Act ran several years ago, has been due for years. Most recently, Boris Johnson promised it was coming “this summer.”

Now, The Sunday Times reports this week moves drawn up by Theresa May, to make changing your gender easier to will be dropped. This will be announced alongside plans to remove the cost of changing your gender, currently £140. Read more via Forbes

Plans to allow people to self-identify as a different gender will be formally dropped by the government this week. Ministers have decided against the proposals with were developed under THerea May’s government, to allow transgender people to change their birth certificates without a medical diagnosis.
