Armenia must ban LGBT propaganda, priest says

Fr. Kyuregh Talyan, Parish Priest of the St. Katoghike Church of Jrvezh (Kotayk region) is strongly convinced that the propaganda of homosexuality must be banned in Armenia given its possible harmful effects on the young people.

Speaking to Panorama.am, he stressed the propaganda can attract many, including undecided young Armenians.

The comment comes after Armenian Chief of Police Valeriy Osipyan told reporters on Tuesday that a LGBT forum set to be held in Armenia had been cancelled amid ‘certain risks’. Prior to his statement, many spoke against organizing such a forum in Armenia, stressing the ‘values’ propagated by the forum have no place in Armenia.

“Their propaganda must certainly be forbidden. It shouldn’t be imposed on Armenia. They can go and propagate let’s say in Japan. The propaganda may trigger something among the unstable youth. We remain committed to our doctrine,” the priest said. Read more via Panorama
